In mid-July, the Sustainability Unit along with ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation enjoyed a family day event at the HKFYG Jockey Club Organic Farm, attracting about 50 youth and family participants from ONE ICBC Social Service Team. In response to sustainable development, we are honoured to be invited by ICBC (Asia) to participate in their recent Family Fun Day. Alongside our passionate green startup partners Dress Green and Carbon Linking, we inspired youths and their families to embrace sustainability! Through upcycling workshops, youths have learned creative eco-practices, transforming recycled materials into adorable bowties or turning food waste into paw-shaped NFC (Near-field communication) keychains, reducing waste and alleviating the burden on landfills. Youth as Low‑Carbon Food Agents We partnered with the ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation to host the Food Sustainability Workshop, bringing together youth and their families to explore low‑carbon diets through interactive games and hands‑on experiences. Last Sunday (8 March), the “ONE ICBC Low-carbon Family Cooking Competition,” co-organised by the ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation, came to a successful close! We brought the concept of “low-carbon dining” into the hearts of families, planting the seeds of sustainability right at their dining table. The challenge was no piece of cake! Families had to tackle a “Blind Box” of secret local organic ingredients, striving for the perfect balance of low carbon practice, nutrition, taste, creativity, and teamwork. On the recent Mother’s Day, numerous families gathered at the HKFYG Jockey Club Organic Farm to take part in the “Youth Decarbonisation Platform – Low-Carbon Family Cooking Competition”, embarking on a unique low-carbon experience from harvesting to cooking. Families harvested their own “organic mystery box ingredients” , bringing the freshest local vegetables straight from the field into the kitchen and putting the “farm-to-table” low-carbon concept into practice. Congratulations to all award-winning schools and Campus Decarbonisation Ambassadors! The Youth Decarbonisation Platform, Hong Kong’s first territory-wide youth carbon reduction initiative jointly organised by ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, recently held its Awards Ceremony, recognising more than 300 students from 14 primary and secondary schools for their active participation in carbon reduction actions and outstanding environmental leadership over the past year. This year, Design Charrette 2026, jointly organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) and the Sustainability Unit of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), was held under the theme “Vertical City: Reimagining Hong Kong’s Skyline.” The programme brought together around 30 secondary school students for an immersive architectural learning experience.
