Youth as Low‑Carbon Food Agents
We partnered with the ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation to host the Food Sustainability Workshop, bringing together youth and their families to explore low‑carbon diets through interactive games and hands‑on experiences.
Participants stepped into the role of low‑carbon food agents—uncovering the carbon footprints of different ingredients, redesigning high‑carbon dishes, and crafting their own low‑carbon Vietnamese rice paper rolls. The delicious plant‑based creations were a hit, allowing participants to take home not just great flavours, but also practical low‑carbon knowledge through learning-by-doing.
From our dining tables to the planet, building sustainable eating habits can make a real difference. Small choices do help shape a greener future.
========================
Since the 2023/24 academic year, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups has been promoting the “Youth Decarbonisation Platform” in schools, achieving over 2,700,000 kg of carbon reduction to date. As the program enters its third year, we aim to encourage more youth involvement in carbon reduction initiatives. The “Campus Decarbonisation Ambassador” program has been launched to cultivate a group of environmentally conscious student leaders who will mobilize their peers to adopt low-carbon lifestyles. This initiative not only significantly reduces carbon emissions in schools but also enhances environmental awareness and responsibility among students and staff.
