Youth Decarbonisation Platform

The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups established an online carbon reduction platform to unite and mobilize youth to practice ten key carbon reduction actions in their daily lives, and to record these actions through the online platform within the year.

Hong Kong’s first-ever online decarbonisation platform exclusively for youth is jointly being launched by ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation and the Sustainability Unit of the Federation. What does this entail?

The “Youth Decarbonisation Platform” initiative aims to gather and encourage 1,000 young people annually to practise ten major types of decarbonisation behaviour in their daily lives. These include, clothing, food, housing, and transportation, all of which are closely related to the lives of young people. This effort promotes their participation in climate action and sustainable development, with an expected annual reduction of one million kilogrammes of carbon emissions.

The campaign also includes a registration system for schools, allowing teachers and students to collectively record their carbon reduction actions in daily life, which will be converted into opportunities to participate in environmental activities, enabling continuous learning in environmental education and giving back to society.
