The aim of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups is to educate and create opportunities for young people and engage them as critical actors in environmental awareness and protection.
Through the principle, “Learn to Lead, Lead to Change“, young people are equipped with the appropriate attitude, skills and knowledge on sustainability through various training and exposure programmes.
Focusing on Youth-led Decarbonisation, a three- level model was adopted to engage young people in green sustainable development comprising Sustainability Foundation, Sustainability in Action and Sustainability Leadership.
We actively cooperate with government departments, enterprises, institutions, schools and environmental groups that share the same concept of environmental protection, including:

Previous / Ongoing Programmes with Our Partners
Youth Decarbonisation Platform
The “Youth Decarbonisation Platform” initiative aims to gather and encourage 1,000 young people annually to practise ten major types of decarbonisation behaviour in their daily lives. These include, clothing, food, housing, and transportation, all of which are closely related to the lives of young people. This effort promotes their participation in climate action and sustainable development, with an expected annual reduction of one million kilogrammes of carbon emissions.
The campaign also includes a registration system for schools, allowing teachers and students to collectively record their carbon reduction actions in daily life, which will be converted into opportunities to participate in environmental activities, enabling continuous learning in environmental education and giving back to society.
Coca-Cola Recycling Academy「塑膠再生企劃」
The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and Coca-Cola China Limited participated in the production of the Coca-Cola Recycling Academy’s “Plastic Recycling Project”, which provides opportunities for all Hong Kong students to learn and practice the production process of rPET (recycled polyester) environmentally friendly raw materials, and explore the recycling of bottle plastic injection molding into waste For treasure, use technology to achieve a sustainable lifestyle.
The plan is to provide a series of free on-campus workshops for students from September 2023 to April 2024 to learn how to convert plastic bottles into rPET terminals, make various daily necessities, and experience the diversity of plastic recycling. Visit Hong Kong’s first dedicated PET recycling rack, learn about the latest recycling technology, and learn about sustainable solutions to waste.
It is planned to set up public recognition ceremonies and community promotion activities to allow students to demonstrate their learning results to the public and start a “second life” journey for plastics.
3RS Green Alliance Program
The first phase of the “3RS Green Alliance Program” attracted 20 primary and secondary schools to participate, and nearly 150 students attended the launch ceremony. This project installs smart water dispensers in schools and encourages teachers and students to bring their own water bottles to reduce waste at the source. The water dispenser monitors can also provide real-time information on the carbon emissions reduction of relevant actions. In addition, various environmental education activities will be provided to participating schools, including ecological conservation, marine waste cleaning, upcycling workshops and lectures, etc., to increase students’ understanding and experience of environmental protection issues.
The “3RS Green Alliance Program” is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and Watsons Water to provide environmental education activities for primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong, encouraging teachers and students to bring their own water bottles to reduce waste at source. This program will hold regular commendation ceremonies to commend schools for their efforts in promoting reduction, reuse and recycling. It will also provide various environmental education activities. Primary and secondary schools are welcome to sign up.
