Overview
The Campus Decarbonisation Ambassador Programme aims to cultivate a group of environmentally conscious and responsible student leaders who will actively participate in campus carbon reduction actions. The programme will not only significantly reduce the school’s carbon emissions but also enhance the environmental awareness and sense of responsibility in the community.
In 2023, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, in collaboration with the ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation, has launched the “Youth Decarbonisation Platform” to encourage and mobilise local youth to practice carbon reduction behaviours in their daily lives.
After registering on the platform, participants can track their daily actions that reduce carbon emissions, regularly input their reduction records, and cultivate a low-carbon lifestyle. Each action can be instantly converted into a specified amount of carbon reduction, which is logged in the participant’s profile. Participants can not only see their own or their team’s carbon reduction achievements through the platform but also redeem their carbon reduction points to participate sustainability-related events or course for free. This allows for continuous learning in environmental education and engagement in green activities, ultimately giving back to society and promoting a low-carbon lifestyle.
Content
The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups has been promoting the “Youth Decarbonisation Platform” since the 2023/24 school year, achieving over 2,700,000 kilograms of carbon reduction to date. As we enter the third year of the programme, our objective is to encourage increased youth participation in decarbonisation efforts. We are committed to empowering young leaders who are passionate about promoting low-carbon living on campus, and to guide the school towards achieving carbon neutrality.
